🍖 Food You Have to Try This Year
RodeoHouston has grown into one of the most talked-about food events in the city. The carnival adds new treats every year, and 2026 is no exception. Fun new food offerings include:
• Dutch-style fries & Loco Borracho elote
• Pork-a-Palooza pizza & Dubai chocolate-covered Oreos
• Biscoff cheesecake on a stick, and Takis-topped cheese sticks 🧀🌮
Also keep an eye out for classics like funnel cakes, fresh corn dogs, and unique international BBQ flavors during the World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest (Feb 26–28). Many of these competition teams serve fan-favorite bites, and you’ll find music and carnival fun around every corner.
👨👩👧 Family & Teen-Friendly Tips
If you’re bringing teens (or kids), here’s how to make it awesome:
Family Wednesdays: Free grounds admission for kids 12 & under and seniors before noon on March 4 and March 18. Carnival rides are discounted too — perfect for teens who love thrills.
The Junction Stage: Reimagined with cool zones and performances geared toward younger crowds.
Pig races, petting zoos & carnival rides: Teens might roll their eyes — but they love this stuff once they’re in it.
🚗 Parking & Getting Around
NRG Park parking is cashless and about $25 per lot — and you can pre-buy online to avoid lines. Handicap-accessible spots are available with valid permits.
Alternative transit:
MetroRail runs extended hours (~$1.25 one way). (Pro-Tip: Uber to Hotel Zaza, grab a drink then jump on Rail! Saves uber wait time I promise)
Park & Ride shuttles ($4–$15) drop you at the Yellow Lot.
Rideshare: Easy drop-off at Yellow Lot 35, then hop a tram to the grounds. (The uber waits can be extensive! Plan ahead)
Pro tip: Wear comfortable shoes — there’s a TON of walking and Nashville-style dirt paths. Snacks before you go help avoid the expensive on-grounds food lines.
